As we previously reported, Gigi and Zayn met up after Justin Bieber’s AMAs after-party on Nov. 22 — there were even photos of them together! — and although things aren’t serious yet, these two are definitely hanging out. But, if you think back to a few months ago, Zayn was in a very public feud with Calvin…who happens to be dating Gigi’s best friend, Taylor. Weird, right!?
The fight actually began when the 22-year-old took a dig at Taylor, retweeting a message on Twitter that called her out for not putting her music on streaming services. Well, the DJ wasn’t just going to let another guy take a hit at his girlfriend, so he retaliated, tweeting at Zayn, “You’ve made your money? Cool…f*** the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah f*** em. If u don’t get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry…stay out of my f***in mentions pls. While u kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there’s some poor f***er in a basement making your new favorite record trying to survive. Meaning….stay out of things you don’t understand.”
Of course, Zayn had to throw his two cents in in return. “ha you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate,” he wrote. “you clearly didn’t understand what I just said either. so i suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out.” Oh man — DRAMA! So, you can see…it’s a little awkward that Gigi is letting herself get so close to someone who’s been so harsh on Taylor and her man!
Interestingly, though, the “Wildest Dreams” singer has forgiven her gal pal for breaking an even worse girl code in the past. Before hooking up with Zayn, Gigi was in a five-month, super serious romance with Joe Jonas, who notoriously broke Taylor’s heart in a very public breakup when they were teenagers. Taylor openly admitted that she was cool with her BFF and ex dating — they even all hung out together on multiple occasions, including a double date with Calvin — but she might be taking things a little bit harder now that it’s strike two. Can the friendship recover from this?!
