The Instagram queen totally took us by surprise when she showed off her dramatic look on April 4 in a black and white picture. While we’d normally just think Sel was playing around for a photo shoot or music video, she captioned the pic: “coming soon/ / REVIVAL tour ’16,” which probably means we’re going to be seeing more of the Mexican holiday-themed look once Selena’s tour kicks off on May 6.
Sometimes called sugar skull makeup, it’s the trademark look of the Day of the Dead holiday, which celebrates family and friends who have passed away.
But the endless ways to wear it have also made it popular in the beauty world (especially around Halloween), with celebs like Sandra Bullock and Kate Hudson even trying it out.
We can totally get behind this dramatic look being a regular part of Selena’s tour, but we have a feeling this might just be for her opening video on her Revival tour, or another prerecorded video — after all, it would be a pretty time-consuming look to create every night, not to mention how difficult it would be to keep it from melting under the stage lights.
